Heartburn (GERD) is a common disorder which results from stomach contents refluxing into the esophagus. This may cause a variety of symptoms and may lead to complications including inflammation of the esophagus or esophagitis. Esophagitis usually can be treated easily with a conservative program of medical care. Upon treatment, most patients obtain complete relief.
