Did You Know?

Heartburn (GERD) is a common disorder which results from stomach contents refluxing into the esophagus. This may cause a variety of symptoms and may lead to complications including inflammation of the esophagus or esophagitis. Esophagitis usually can be treated easily with a conservative program of medical care. Upon treatment, most patients obtain complete relief. By working with the physician, the correct program can be developed for each patient. For more information, click on Heartburn on the right-hand side of this page.

gastrointestinal consultation
Our physicians specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of problems of the esophagus, stomach, bowel, gallbladder, liver, and pancreas. Accurate assessment of your condition may require specialized testing with laboratory, X-ray or endoscopic studies.

Endoscopic studies or special “scope” tests of the digestive tract include gastroscopy, which is used to check the upper digestive tract; and colonoscopy, which is used to check the colon and the rectum. We also offer a new technique, wireless capsule endoscopy, which can help us diagnose problems not detected by conventional studies. During this test, the patient swallows a tiny video capsule that can transmit thousands of color images as it moves through the digestive tract. Ask us about this procedure on your next visit.

Please note that not all tests are covered by your health insurance provider. Please check with your carrier if you have any questions.

We emphasize physician communications and patient education. This ensures that patients will have a clear understanding of their medical problem as well as their treatment options. A complete report is sent to your referring physician.
